The economic crisis has reached the Sierra de Atapuerca (Burgos) where the excavation campaign in archaeological sites will be reduced fifteen days. The excavation work will be carried out from July 1 to July 28 in two shifts. And not only time is reduced, but also the number of researchers will also experience a decrease of up to 150 people.
The Atapuerca Foundation It will collaborate as usual during the excavations period, also celebrating the 2013 Evolution awards granted to Dr. Trinidad Torres and the Edelweiss Speleological Group.
The work of organizing the World Congress of Prehistorians will complete the excavations and whose tasks will be determined by the Atapuerca Foundation, complemented by an exhibition from the Museum of Human Evolution. Among the attendees is Martín Almagro, belonging to the Royal Academy of History and recent president of the Scientific Committee.
Nowadays, 21 people manage the Atapuerca deposits, a number that is expected to increase in the coming weeks due to the increase in visits during the summer.

Fascinated by both numbers and letters and a lover of the unknown, that is why I am a future graduate in Economics and Journalism, interested in understanding life and the forces that have shaped it. Everything is easier, more useful and more exciting if, with a look at our past, we can improve our future and for that… History.
